What to do about Sciatica

There are several symptoms that may indicate you are suffering from sciatica.  The most common are:

  • Pain in the backside or leg
  • A burning or tingling feeling running down the leg
  • Weakness or numbness in the leg or foot
  • A shooting pain that makes it hard to stand up

You can use a combination of heat and cold packs to help relieve sciatica pain.  Exercise and weight loss can lead to less pain over time and can also help relieve leg and lower back pain.  You can also do various forms of physical therapy to help reduce or eliminate the pain.  Ultimately you can see your doctor and find out if there are medications available to you to lessen the pains caused by sciatica.
