Xenical – A Complete Guide

Please note that Xenical is not a complete treatment by itself. First it is only effective when used in conjunction with diet and exercise. The food that you eat must provide you with the daily recommended values of proteins, carbs, and vitamins. If you want success, you will have to follow your prescribed routine very closely.

Consuming Xenical

Follow the instructions given on the label of your Xenical. Your doctor might also provide you with certain usage suggestions. Only take the prescribed amounts; not consuming enough of it may not be effective and consuming more if it can expose to the side effects.

Generally, Xenical has to be taken with a meal or before one hour has passed after you have had a meal. This meal must contain low quantities of fat, less than 30% of the total calories. You can take the medication three times a day.

If you forget to take a dose, you can have one when you remember it if an hour from your meal has not passed. If this time period is over, you can just snip the dose and take another one when you have your next meal. Moreover, if your meal contains more than 30% fat, then also you should not take Xenical after it.

Things to keep in mind when using Xenical

Xenical should not be taken in any stage of pregnancy. If you are about to have a baby, you should not be on any rapid loss of weight program no matter how obese or overweight you are. People who have an allergy to orlistat should also not take Xenical. Same is the case if you are suffering from chronic malabsorption syndrome or gallbladder problems.

If your thyroid is underactive, you have a medical history of diabetes, pancreatitis, eating disorders, kidney or liver diseases; consult with your doctor before you start consuming Xenical. If you are underage and are less than 18 years, then also you must take professional medical advice first.

Xenical should not be shared with anyone else. This is why it is important for you keep it in a place from where others cannot access it.  The place must also have low humidity and temperatures and the bottle must be tightly closed.

Side Effects

There are certain side effects associated with using Xenical. If you spot any of these, get medical help immediately.

  • Pain arises in your back
  • You do not urinate or do so in little quantities; at times, blood may also appear
  • Your feel more thirsty and have frequent mood swings
  • You heart rate increases or your feel short of breath
